Sterling man faces 1st Degree Assault that occurred in Cheyenne County

SIDNEY, Neb. - Witnesses from Colorado are scheduled to appear in Cheyenne County Court for a preliminary hearing for a Sterling man facing charges of Felony 1st Degree Assault, and Terroristic Threats says Cheyenne County Attorney Paul Schaub.

39-year old David Croissant allegedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend near Lorenzo back in July 2017. The incident occurred while the two were traveling in Croissant’s pickup headed towards Sidney from Sterling.

According to the incident report the victim received a black eye, cuts, scrapes, a concussion and broken nose. The victim stated that Croissant was angry because he thought she was a “snitch” and made threats to her and her son.

The victim reported that she was able to exit Croissant’s vehicle to flag down a man in a tractor that was passing by, although Croissant told the man that everything was fine. The two returned to the victim’s apartment in Sterling, after Croissant left the next day, the victim was able to check into the hospital.

Croissant’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for January 31.
