Sidney High graduate one of 13 nominated to U.S. Service Academy

SIDNEY, Neb. – Congressman Adrian Smith (R-NE) announced Tuesday his nomination of 13 students to the U.S. Service Academies for the class entering in the fall of 2018.

One of the students nominated was 21-year old Brendon Brown, who is a graduate of Sidney High School, currently serving in the United States Marine Corps and attending the Naval Academy Preparatory School in Newport, Rhode Island. Corporal Brown has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Maryland.

Members of Congress nominate young people for admission to the U.S. Service Academies, which include the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy, and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.

The Service Academies offer a unique opportunity for motivated students to serve their country while undergoing a rigorous academic and physical regimen. In exchange for tuition, students agree to serve in the U.S. military after graduation.
